Fusajiro Yamauchi (山内 房治郎 Yamauchi, Fusajirō, November 22, 1859 – January 1940 (age 80 at death) was a Japanese entrepreneur who founded the company that is now known as Nintendo Company Limited. Yamauchi lived in Kyoto, Japan and had a daughter, Tei Yamauchi (who later married future Nintendo president and Fusajiro Yamauchi's successor, Sekiryo Kaneda).

Yamauchi founded Nintendo on September 23, 1889 at the age of 29[1], which originally produced handmade hanafuda cards.

At the age of 70, Fusajiro finally retired, leaving his son-in-law Sekiryo Kaneda (whose name had changed to Sekiryo Yamauchi). For the next eleven years Fusajiro remained out of the business until his death in 1940.[2]

The cause of his death is still unknown, or at least to the public. The only documented information available is that he died just before World War II, and the remains are buried in the basement of Nintendo's original headquarters in Kyoto, Japan. Today, Nintendo is one of the dominating companies in the video game industry.
