Virtual Console is a specialized section of the Wii Shop Channel and Nintendo eShop, online services that allow players to purchase and download games and other software for Nintendo's Wii and Wii U home gaming consoles and the Nintendo 3DS portable gaming console.

Description[]

The Virtual Console lineup consists of titles originally released on past home and handheld consoles. These titles are run in their original forms through software emulation, and can be purchased for between 500 ($5) and 1200 ($12) Wii Points for the Wii, $2.99 and $5.99 for the 3DS and $4.99 and $8.99 for the Wii U depending on system, rarity, and/or demand. The Wii has titles from the NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, as well as several other non-Nintendo consoles. The Wii U will most likely feature the same, as well as GameCube titles. The 3DS has GameBoy and GameBoy Color titles, with possible support for GameBoy Advance titles in the future.
